Theater Weekend

Theater Scholarship Events offer prospective performers, directors, playwrights, designers, technicians and stage managers a chance to compete for full- and partial-tuition scholarships by auditioning, presenting a design/management portfolio or submitting a play they have written.

The Virtual Theater Scholarship Day will take place Monday, February 16. In addition to the audition and portfolio reviews with CWRU theater faculty, applicants will have the opportunity to speak with current CWRU theater students in a virtual chat room before or after their audition or portfolio review. The Virtual Theater Scholarship Day event is invitation only. Students selected to attend the virtual event will be notified by Monday, February 9.

The In-Person Weekend will take place on campus on February 20 and February 21. It will kick off the evening of Friday, February 20, with a meet-and-greet with CWRU faculty and students, followed by a workshop with theater faculty, as well as a tour of our brand new theater, The Milton and Tamar Maltz Performing Arts Center. On Saturday, February 21, students will audition and interview for the scholarships in the morning and attend the CWRU Department of Theater production of Mercury in the evening, as well as a performance by the student improv group IMPROVment.

Each year, the Case Western Reserve Department of Theater awards four full-tuition scholarships to incoming students who wish to major in theater, and two $10,000 merit scholarships to students who wish to minor in theater or pursue it as an extracurricular activity.
